Ben & Jerry's VS Haagen Dazs

The Ultimate Challenge. Ben & Jerry's VS Haagen Dazs.

It's a serious showdown. Which icecream tastes better?

Is it Haagen Dazs... or Ben & Jerry's.

Some history before we begin.

Ben & Jerry's website says it all began "over 30 years ago with 2 guys creating otherworldly ice cream flavors." As for the 2 guys they are: Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield who grew up in Merrick, Long Island.

Haagen Dazz has a uber European name, however I was surprised to learn it started in the streets of the Bronx, New York. It's website says "Reuben Mattus, supported by his wife Rose, decided to form a new company dedicated to his ice cream vision and called his new brand Häagen-Dazs, to convey an aura of the old-world traditions and craftsmanship to which he remained dedicated.

Taste test time.

Cookies & Cream from Haagen Dazs VS Cherry Garcia from Ben & Jerry's. (Both are take home tubs)

Cookies & Cream - Haagen Dazs

Cherry Garcia - Ben & Jerry's

I have had the Ben & Jerry's cookies & cream before, and therefore I can say that the Ben & Jerry's version is definately creamer and has bigger chunks of cookies than Haagen Dazs. Haagen Dazs was rather more vanilla than cookies. Cherry Garcia from Ben & Jerry's was delicious. If you like Cherry-ripe chocolates then this is definately for you. Chunks of choc chip pieces & cherry jellies. The vanilla was creamer than Haagen Dazs.

Verdict: If you prefer your icecream creamy & sweet (like me), then I suggest you go for Ben & Jerry's. Haagen Dazs tends to be a bit light on in terms of flavour and lacks the same volume of chunky chocolate bits & pieces that Ben & Jerry offers.

That's all for now folks. Enjoy! :)
