Hilton Buffet Breakfast - The best in Sydney?

Hilton Hotel
Glass Brasserie, 488 George Street Sydney
http://www.glassbrasserie.com.au/

Whether you're a tourist, or a local just looking for a buffet breakfast, then the Glass Brasserie may be a good choice. Plenty of variety of breads, cereals, fruits, hot and cold food and conveniently located in the Hilton Hotel Sydney. The restaurant is operated by celebrity chef Luke Mangan.

Staff are friendly and very helpful. There are menu items which can be requested and are included in the price of the buffet. Just stand near the hot food station, and a staff will come to take your order. I tried the eggs benedict, and waffles with chocolate sauce. I'm one of those people that attempts to try everything in a buffet, but alas I filled up too quickly early on. So I will be back to try the danish and pastry selection next time =)

Alice's makan

580 George Street, Sydney
http://www.alicesmakan.com.au/

Alice's Makan is conveniently located in the HSBC building food court in Town Hall. It's my go to for Malaysian food in the city when I want a quick and hearty meal. My favourite is the fried radish cake! Cause I love fried things, and I'm a big radish cake fan. Plenty of flavour from the smokiness of the wok, fried with egg and bean sprouts. Perfect for lunch.

Guzman Y Gomez is expanding their franchises, and if you are lucky enough you may have even experienced their Free-burrito-day on the opening day of a new store.

Mexican food. It's all the rave at the moment. A little bit of salsa, beans and a whole lot of meat/vegs, cheese and guacamole makes for good meal.

Chef's Gallery - the new Din Tai Fung?

501 George Street, Sydney

It's 12.05pm on a Tuesday afternoon, and I'm thinking Chef's Gallery for lunch. Now I've heard that it gets busy, and I thought really? On a Tuesday afternoon? Well indeed it did. I managed to get a table before the queue started to form at about 12.30pm.

Beijing Duck Restaurant

125 Rowe Street, Eastwood Sydney
http://www.ozbeijingduck.com/

The specialty of this restaurant is the duck. And the way it’s served to you. A chef slices the duck in front of you, and places the finished dish in front of you to be best eaten wrapped in the pancakes.

Lee's Malaysian - Won Ton noodle soup

1a Hunter Street, Sydney

Clear soup. Chinese green vegetables. Pork and prawn filled won ton. This are the elements of a classic Chinese won ton noodle soup. When I feel like eating a "lighter" chinese meal, I normally have a won ton noodle soup.

Lee's Malaysian

With the wave of the food revolution, Masterchef, My Kitchen Rules hitting our shores, we are all becoming increasingly well versed on our culinary knowledge. "The Best in Sydney" is a common phrase I am seeing these days in good food guides. So this brings me to my discovery of possibly in my opinion the best har mee (prawn noodle soup) in Sydney.

Calories in chinese snacks

Did you know one piece of pork jerky (a singapore favourite called "bak kwa") is 370 calories! Oh my goodness, no wonder I've got belly bulge from all the snacks I ate. How well do you know your calories in your favourite chinese new year snacks? Pineapple tarts anyone?

Selection of BBQ Pork & Roasted Duck

BBQ meats. BBQ pork. Duck. Yum. Staples of chinese cuisine, it's my go to dish when I feel like eating something hearty, yet comforting and deeply satisfying. I remember growing up on these dishes when I was a child, and I still love them.

Paris - Oldest Bakery closes!

After 202 years, the oldest bakery in Paris has closed due to skyrocketing rent! My heart goes out to Parisians who are lamenting the loss of this historic landmark. When I first heard of this, it just reminded me how increasingly commercial modern life has become. Cherish these old style bakeries; we will miss them when they are all gone and replaced with commercial shops churning out breads made in factories. It just won’t be the same.

Ben & Jerry's VS Haagen Dazs

The Ultimate Challenge. Ben & Jerry's VS Haagen Dazs.

It's a serious showdown. Which icecream tastes better?

Is it Haagen Dazs... or Ben & Jerry's.

Aussie Breakfast - Bacon & Egg roll

$5.00 Bacon & Egg roll. Picture shows only half of it. It's the real deal!

One of my favourite breakfast meals that I've been having recently is the bacon & egg roll. A common Australian breakfast. Completely satisfying.

Snacking in KFC

Here are some of my weekend favourites. What have I been eating. A whole.lot.of.junk! A girl has to indulge in some greasy fast food every now and then. Yum.yum.yum. And nothing beats it more than KFC in Singapore. Now..... indulge me please but i reckon the KFC in SG is the best. Crispy, chunky and a whole lot of flavour!

Up close and person - 2 piece feed. See how big & crisp it is?

Singapore Local Dinner

It's so cheap to have dinner and a good meal in Singapore! Here is what I had for dinner tonight:

Nasi Padang (rice with mix of vegetables and meat dishes. The rice is underneath all that food) S$9 = approx AUD$6.90.
This meal was huge and satisfying.

BBQ Pork & Chicken Rice S$5 = approx AUD$3.85 (so cheap!).
Where else can you get this for that price?

Why your burger doesn't like the ad!

Ever wondered why the burgers in the McDonald's ads and posters look so much better than they do in real life? I always do...... I get disappointed when I order a Big Mac and it looks half the size and nothing like the ad. Find out why...
