Hilton Buffet Breakfast - The best in Sydney?
Hilton Hotel
Glass Brasserie, 488 George Street Sydney
http://www.glassbrasserie.com.au/
Whether you're a tourist, or a local just looking for a buffet breakfast, then the Glass Brasserie may be a good choice. Plenty of variety of breads, cereals, fruits, hot and cold food and conveniently located in the Hilton Hotel Sydney. The restaurant is operated by celebrity chef Luke Mangan.
Staff are friendly and very helpful. There are menu items which can be requested and are included in the price of the buffet. Just stand near the hot food station, and a staff will come to take your order. I tried the eggs benedict, and waffles with chocolate sauce. I'm one of those people that attempts to try everything in a buffet, but alas I filled up too quickly early on. So I will be back to try the danish and pastry selection next time =)

Growing your own herbs is a great spring idea. Inspired to grow my own herbs this spring to use in the kitchen, I stumbled across Jamie Oliver's herb 3 in 1 box growing kit whilst out shopping.
Brilliant. Its got all things I need to get started for a beginner gardener like me.

Alice's makan
580 George Street, Sydney
http://www.alicesmakan.com.au/
Alice's Makan is conveniently located in the HSBC building food court in Town Hall. It's my go to for Malaysian food in the city when I want a quick and hearty meal. My favourite is the fried radish cake! Cause I love fried things, and I'm a big radish cake fan. Plenty of flavour from the smokiness of the wok, fried with egg and bean sprouts. Perfect for lunch.

Guzman Y Gomez
Guzman Y Gomez is expanding their franchises, and if you are lucky enough you may have even experienced their Free-burrito-day on the opening day of a new store.
Mexican food. It's all the rave at the moment. A little bit of salsa, beans and a whole lot of meat/vegs, cheese and guacamole makes for good meal.

Daydreaming Chanel
9 May - Karl Lagerfeld was in Singapore to unveil his cruise 2013/14 collection for Chanel. It was his first visit to Singapore as creative director of the French luxury house. Certainly this proves that Singapore is an important force in the fashion world. Not many countries can lay claim to say that Karl Lagerfeld was there... Fashionistas in Singapore you've got that one thing.

Chef's Gallery - the new Din Tai Fung?
501 George Street, Sydney
It's 12.05pm on a Tuesday afternoon, and I'm thinking Chef's Gallery for lunch. Now I've heard that it gets busy, and I thought really? On a Tuesday afternoon? Well indeed it did. I managed to get a table before the queue started to form at about 12.30pm.

Peplum... does it suit everyone?
Peplums. They are the latest trend in ladies fashion at the moment. I see them everywhere. Peplums in all sorts of shapes and colours. Supposed to give you more lady like curves, but do they flatter everyone?
If you are not familiar with the term "peplum". Basically a peplum is flared strip of fabric that is attached at the waist of a jacket, dress or blouse.
See exhibit A.
Exhibit A - Peplum skirt, dress, top |
So what's the key to a great peplum? Fits tight at the waist and clinches in, then fluffs out a little bit. Peplum tops go great with skinny jeans! I've discovered that the peplums with alot of material (fluffs I call them) don't suit me. Likewise, I need peplums to sit a little bit lower than my waist. Alot of them sit high up on the waist, which makes me look unbalanced. To counter this, try a size bigger, which might make all the difference in where the peplum sits. I found that this worked for me.
The moral of the story is, if you are craving a peplum (like I am), keep looking until you find the perfect one that fits your body. And don't be disheartened because some of the measurements of these peplums really do make you look and feel odd. They should flatter you.

125 Rowe Street, Eastwood Sydney

The specialty of this restaurant is the duck. And the way it’s served to you. A chef slices the duck in front of you, and places the finished dish in front of you to be best eaten wrapped in the pancakes.

Clear soup. Chinese green vegetables. Pork and prawn filled won ton. This are the elements of a classic Chinese won ton noodle soup. When I feel like eating a "lighter" chinese meal, I normally have a won ton noodle soup.

Paris - Oldest Bakery closes!
After 202 years, the oldest bakery in Paris has closed due to skyrocketing rent! My heart goes out to Parisians who are lamenting the loss of this historic landmark. When I first heard of this, it just reminded me how increasingly commercial modern life has become. Cherish these old style bakeries; we will miss them when they are all gone and replaced with commercial shops churning out breads made in factories. It just won’t be the same.
